tongue map

Did you know that your tongue is a reflection of your health and a map of what is going on internally?
A healthy tongue is pink in color with a very thin white coat. Colors such as red and purple or a very pale tongue indicate imbalances as well as scalloped edges, areas of depression, cracks, a thick coating that might also be yellow in color, and coatings that are not evenly distributed. The veins under the tongue should not be purple. The body of the tongue should not be too stiff or deviated. It is very important to know that these two presentations may indicate impending stroke.
Looking at the tongue when completely healthy can give you a baseline. Every day when you brush your teeth, take a look at your tongue. If you notice any changes, you may want to see an acupuncturist.
